Zoo

Last weekend we went with our good friends the McClure's to the Capital of Texas Zoo... which was an odd combination between a zoo, a farm and a hill-billy's backyard. But despite the heat Ainsley had a great time seeing all the animals and although kind of random, I'm glad that we have places like this that are close and good friends to share the time with.

Here are a few examples of the unique collection of animals... For starters were the typical zoo animals like a huge lion that you could get really up close and personal with. It seemed like it was behind just two measly wire fences. Notice the sign next to Ainsley "Animals will bite! Keep hands away from cages!" Hmmmm... a little too close for comfort on this one. We didn't stay at this exhibit long.

Then there were the farm animals like this goat that Ainsley could "touch it, touch it".

And then there were the hill-billy exhibits like a million guinea pigs all in one place. It was hilarious to see them all running around and making that little grunting/squeaking noise.

Here are Ainsley and Finley watching the little guys. And although a bit odd, these animals were quite the crowd pleaser, myself included.

Here are the daddies with the kiddos...

And the mommies... Bailey was such a trooper in the heat, even though we did escape to the air conditioned car a few times. But then again so was Michelle, who is due with their second kiddo in a few weeks!

But the animals weren't the only thing to see... Ainsley and Finley have a budding relationship developing. We've known for a while now that they are BFFs but during this trip they started out sharing snacks and laughs...

...and ended up sharing a kiss!! Quite the Saturday morning outing!! :)

Johanna - I just love the picture of Ainsley with the lion - reminded me of the Topeka zoo and the elephant's trunk being extremely close to both you and James (not to mention the chimp's birthday cake). Also, what does Daddy think about his little girl getting kissed? :-)
