Big Tower

Ainsley recently got some new blocks and all we hear now is "big tower, big tower". She literally spent an hour with me and these blocks building and taking down big towers. I'm impressed with how well they hold her attention. Money well spent!

All the while sweet Bailey just slept! I love this newborn stage. :)

Storytime

Ainsley is such a sweet big sister and the other day she was so excited to read to Bailey. She specifically picked out this baby animals book to read to her baby brother. It was a really cute glimpse of the friendship that is to come.

Visitors

We have been blessed with lots of visitors coming to meet Bailey this past month! It has been such a joy to see both friends and family and we appreciate everyone loving on us as we transition into a family of four. :) Here is Bailey sleeping soundly with his Gammy, George's mom.

Bailey relaxing and making himself at home on George's dad, Papa as Ainsley calls him.

Ainsley, showing off how much she loves her little brother to Papa.

Bailey and his Yaya, George's stepmom, Amy. He was so snugly with her.

And just because I can't get enough of these sweet, sweet baby toes.

We love you all - come back soon!

Bailey's One Month Snapshot

Weight: 10 pounds, 1 ounce (50th percentile)
Height: 23.25 inches (90-95th percentile - he's tall but they might have been a little generous with this measurement)
Head Circumference: 14.75 centimeters (25th percentile)

We have been so blessed in Bailey! Not only is he as healthy as can be but he is such a sweet tempered, tolerate, laid-back baby boy. This is exactly as we ordered him but we have reserved delivery confirmation until now because Ainsley became very challenging and fussy at about the 3 week mark when she was diagnosed with reflux. But Bailey is now almost 5 weeks old and is still as chill as the day he arrived and for that we are so, so grateful!

Looks Like: Most people have said that he looks like Ainsley although to me he is developing much more of a masculine appearance. He has George's chin and my nose... but other than that he is all Bailey at this point. Although recently he has lost almost all of the hair on the top of his head while still having plenty around the sides... but I'm not going to say who he resembles on this one. :)

Likes & Dislikes: Bailey really seems to like almost everything. He loves the bath, his paci, and warm snuggles from mommy and daddy. He coos at his mobile and after he eats (if he hasn't already dozed off), loves to stretch and kick, and is very patient with his sister's "gentle" hugs, kisses, and pats. The only thing that really seems to frustrate him at this point is the nasal congestion he gets in the early morning. The Dr. says his nasal passages aren't big enough yet which leaves him snorting, snoring, and sneezing in order to breathe usually around 5am. I feel so bad for the little guy because there isn't much I can do to make things better on him... its just a waiting game.

Funny Memory: During one of his firsts baths we had the baby bath tub sitting on the counter in the bathroom that him and Ainsley share. Although he hasn't been too much of a "sprayer" thus far, as soon as I put him in the bath tub he promptly peed a direct arch right into Ainsley's toothbrush cup! Then of course Ainsley, who was "helping", starting asking to brush her teeth. "Brush teeth. Brush teeth." :)

We love you Bailey!! Thank you for being our sweet little boy!

Worth It All

This two kiddo thing with its crazy non-stop days and sleep-less nights has its challenges... but moments like these are reminders that these two lil people are worth it all.

Where's Ainsley?

Milk Drunk

My grandfather used to say "What is in that milk that makes those babies so drunk." I can't help but smile at that every time I get done nursing and have this snugly baby in my arms.

Happy Mother's Day

I couldn't ask for more than the love of these two little munchkins on Mother's Day... but the homemade breakfast and flowers that George got me helped make the day perfect too! :) I'm one lucky lady!

Growing Boy

On Monday, Bailey had his 2 week check up and weighed in at 8 lbs 14 oz and measured 21.5 inches... meaning that in 2 weeks he gained a pound and grew and inch! Good boy! It feels like he is changing so much everyday and already feels rounder and looks fuller to me. But he is still just as sweet!!

Surgery Day

On Thursday Ainsley had outpatient surgery on her left eye to insert a stint in her tear duct so that her tears would drain properly into her nasal canal (before her left eye was always weepy). It was a quick, fairly routine procedure but she had to have anesthesia and be checked into the surgical center for the day so George and I were pretty nervous about it. But thankfully as far as the doctors can tell the procedure was successful. On Thursday Ainsley was disoriented and uncomfortable from the anesthesia but yesterday was for the most part back to her old self. The stint will stay in her tear duct for 8 weeks to allow her body to adjust before being removed during an office visit. Here is our sweet girl looking so cute in her hospital gown. She was such a trooper and so was Bailey.

Below is George attempting to keep Ainsley entertained before her surgery. She couldn't eat or drink anything all morning and the surgery didn't start until 11am so she was pretty grumpy and hungry towards the end.

As I mentioned before, George and I have been anxious about this day for months so I am so happy that it is over and that everything appeared to go smoothly. Again, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Grandma Time

I naively thought that I would have Bailey closer to his actual due date and so my mom graciously flew down the first week of April and stayed with us until this past Saturday. I cannot even begin to explain how much her visit and help meant to us since that last week of pregnancy left me much too tired, grumpy, and uncomfortable to take care of my family and then once Bailey arrived, my hands were full with recovery, getting to know this lil guy, and getting used to a family of four. Her help and support was immensely appreciated and it makes me tear up just thinking about all she did for us. I even asked Dad if we could keep her... but he said not a chance!

George and I weren't the only ones who benefited from her visit. Ainsley quickly became her lil buddy and helper. Every morning they made banana soy smoothies together while the rest of us slept, and every afternoon they played with puppets, read special stories, and had tea parties. It makes me so happy to see them share these special moments and create these memories. Here they are making pizzas for dinner. Ainsley loved slapping the dough.

And here's Grandma with the lil Mr., who is an equally adoring fan!

We love you Mom/Grandma! Come back soon!

Sticker Nose Family

I really wanted a nice family Easter picture... but with Ainsley being under the weather, we didn't get one. But a few days later we did get this family shot! Ainsley was having a blast putting her Easter stickers on our noses. It doesn't capture us all dressed up... but I wouldn't trade it! :)
