As of 5:15 this evening, Ainsley no longer has an oxygen requirement!!! They have been able to wean her fairly aggressively the past few days and today they were able to remove her nasal cannula, which means she is now breathing room air with no added oxygen. This also means that we were able to see her sweet cheeks for the first time since those first few hours after birth before they realized she was sick. She will still have remain in the NICU and maintain appropriate stats for another 48 hours without receiving any oxygen before she can come home... but after being there for over 2 weeks, it felt like such an incredible achievement to see them remove those tubes and we're all still giddy with the thought that she could actually be ours so soon!!!
In the picture below, you can still see the adhesive gel that they use help attach the oxygen tubes to her cheeks so that they aren't applying harsh tape directly to her skin. The gel was really stuck to her left cheek, so they left it there just in case. But no more white tape and tubes! Yay!
Other exciting news is that early this morning she received her last dose of antibiotics, which means that they were also able to remove her IV today. It is so nice being able to get rid of another tube and now Ainsley has both hands and feet free to move around, wiggle, and suck on.
Plus, if all that didn't make the day, today is my mom's 60th birthday so we took the evening to celebrate over thai food, tiramisu cake, and wine. Oh, it was a great day!!

Hooray! So excited you are one step closer to home. Nash and I have a home-made veggie frozen lasagna in our freezer for you (he actually made it!). Can we bring it by sometime when you get home? :)
