A few weekends ago we went to the Kids Giving to Kids Blue Santa Christmas parade. They closed down Congress Street downtown and it was a pretty fun event! The concept was that each child attending the parade brought a new toy to give away to Blue Santa, which is the police officer's version of redistributing toys to less fortunate kids and families. I thought it would be a good way to introduce the concept of giving to Ainsley and the parade made it so fun! Above are my little elves and me before the parade.
We meet up with friends and below are Finley and Ainsley with the toys that they choose to donate.
George and Mike with the "little" kids, Bailey and Sadie.
It was a Christmas parade but it true Austin fashion it was as weird and random as could be. There was an Elmo, several princesses, a Delorean, people dressed up like Star Wars characters, Clifford and Sesame Street Character floats along with the usual bands, dance groups, singers, etc.
Both of the kids had a lot of fun but Bailey was especially enthralled with the bands. He danced and bopped to all the music. He adores music!
Dispersed throughout the parade were empty pick up trucks and at one the parade stopped and all the kids were called out to put their toys in the trucks. Below you can kind of see me and the munchkins and a swam of other people making our way to the truck. It was so neat to see all these trucks with mounds of toys in the back. Lots of kids were going to have good Christmases!
Big morning! Time for a late lunch and naps!
