Before heading back to Texas, George spoiled his girls and let us stay a few nights at Half Moon Bay, a small coastal town about 30 minutes from Stanford. It was gorgeous and relaxing and such sweet family time and I cherished every minute of this pre-Mother's Day detour.
This also gave us the opportunity to introduce Ainsley to the ocean! Despite being born and living by the coast for her first month or so this was the first time Ainsley actually saw it. It was pretty windy the whole time but Ainsley was a good sport and we made the most of it anyway.
Walking along the coast... looks like Ainsley could get used to this!
*sigh* I miss the coast and the ocean...
During our visit we ate lunch at Sam's Chowder House which holds special memories for George and I because it was the first place we ate in California when we came for the GSB admit weekend. We stumbled upon it during a scenic drive down Highway 1 and I remember just being completely blown away by the fact that we were actually going to get to live in a place so beautiful. Then we frequented Sam's to settle pregnant cravings and so it was special to get to come back this time with Ainsley. Here she is with her lobster bib but don't worry, she had grilled cheese.
Then back at the hotel we took full advantage of the heated pool. This was the first time for Ainsley to go swimming and it took her a while to get used to it but once she realized she could splash, she loved it!
Post-swim, pre-bath story time...
And just because this clean face is too precious for words....
Here's Ainsley giving me some snuggles. Moments like these melt my heart.
Awwww.... such a treat! Thank you, sweet husband!
