Being little

Recently a friend if mine wrote that she spends so much time focusing on how big her kids are getting and that sometimes it hits her how tiny they really are. That thought has stuck with me all week and so here is a post in honor of how wonderfully young and innocent our kids still are.  Because I know all too well how quickly it will all change.

Ainsley:  Our kind-hearted, imaginative, independent first born. 

-Still likes to hold my hand in public and wants me to kiss her goodbye, even in front of her friends.

-Misprounces or misuses words in funny ways

-Still puts her shoes on the wrong feet

-Loves us more than her friends

-Still wants/needs her lovey for comfort
-Needs us to read to her before she falls asleep
-Thinks she's being sneaky when she comes out of her room during rest time for a snack
-Still innocent enough to take a bath with her brother
-Princesses, stuffed animals, dress up, and baby dolls rule in her world of play

-Still looks to George and I for life's answers... And for the most part, accepts what we say as truth. 

Bailey:  Our active, loving, sensitive middle child. 

-Still sleeps in a crib with zero indication of climbing out any time soon - Praise the lord!

-Still naps.  Again, praise the lord!

-Still wears diapers (although not much longer hopefully potty training him this weekend.)

-Needs us to dress him and put his shoes on
-Sobs when we put him in time out

-Is short enough that he can still run under the counter top corners without bonking his head

-Wakes up slow and groggy and likes to snuggle until he's full awake

-Still isn't too big for me to hold, lift, or carry for a short time (which is a huge accomplishment for my back!)
-Still innocent enough to take a bath with his sister

-Isn't too big to sleep and snuggle with things like trucks, tractors, and super man action figures in bed.
-Trains, match-box cars, hide-outs, and super heroes rule in his world of play

Caroline:  Our joyful, patient, sweet baby girl.

-She is still so young and needs us for everything but already she feels like she is growing up faster than the other two did.  :(
-Still has the sweet smell of dreft... And spitup

-The buttons on her sleepers make the clinking noise in the dryer

-She isn't sleeping through the night and still nurses exclusively 

-I can hold/carry her for quite awhile before she starts to get heavy

-She has lots of delicious chunky infant bits
-Can still sleep in her swing with her older siblings screaming, playing, and running around her

-Still gets lint stuck in her fingers and toes

-You can still get her to close her eyes by rubbing between them with your finger tip

All three my babies - each in their own way.  Love them all to pieces!
