Thankful

This Thanksgiving we stayed home and hosted George's brother Ray and Aunt Fema. Since we didn't travel and our meal prep was pretty low-key, thanks to Central Market that made most of it (smile!!), I was able to be more thankful about our life than in years where the holiday is full of travel. Of course we missed seeing extended family but we enjoyed the quiet as well.

This year we also started a Thankful Tree tradition where we each wrote several things that we were thankful for. It was such fun and something that we are definitely going to do again. Here's our thankful list and pictures Ainsley hard at work. Can you guess who wrote what.... :)

Our thankful list: friends (this is what Ainsley said she was thankful for first); Baby Bailey (this is what she said second); the church; our family; husbands; playing; loveys; the internet; good health; new boots; yummy food; boots; big sister Ainsley; school; Lucy (our nanny/helper); rain; healthy kids; iphones; happy memories; new adventures; and there were lots of ones with just Ainsley scribbles.

A sweet memory from the day was that we kept saying 'Happy Thanksgiving' to each other and each time Ainsley would lift her arms up and say "No, it's not Thanksgiving now." We would then explain that yes, today actually is Thanksgiving, to which she would say something like "No, not yet" or "That's so silly." Then we all sat down to eat and she looks up from her sweet potatoes and says "Happy Thanksgiving mommy! Now it's Thanksgiving." Ha! I guess even when you're 2, you know that it isn't really Thanksgiving until you have a plateful of yummies in front of you! :)

That picture of Bailey at the end is so precious! We did a thankful tree as well, and it was a big hit with Trip. J wrote on one that he was thankful to be "so good looking"! Not sure he really got the point ;)
